Summer festivals

Sant Joan

24th June - various towns
On the eve of San Juan, a magical night, fire and demon shows are held in many towns, with bonfires and open-air dances that often end with a swim in the sea in the early hours of the morning. The festival is celebrated in many towns, such as Palmanova (Calvià), Deià or Mancor de la Vall, among others.

Sant Pere

29th June - various towns
The patron saint of sailors is honoured with very popular summer festivities in several towns located by the sea, such as Port d'Andratx, Port de Pollença and Port de Sóller.

July - Campanet
Summer festivities with activities for all ages, music and open-air street parties.

Virgin of Carmen

16th July - various towns
Seafaring processions in coastal towns to ask for protection from the dangers of the sea. Especially important in the ports of Andratx, Calvià and Pollença, with all kinds of decorated boats carrying images of the Virgen del Carmen.

Festivities of Sant Jaume

25th July - Banyalbufar and Calvià
Several towns celebrate their summer fiestas, with activities for all ages, music and open-air dances. 

Festivities of the Saint

28th July - Valldemossa
A tribute to the local saint, Catalina Tomàs, with a parade of decorated floats, including a triumphal float with a girl representing the saint.

Festivities of the Saint – Batalla de Moros i Cristians

2nd August - Pollença
On the day of the Virgin of the Angels, the music of the Alborada is played, the Cossiers dance and the battle is held to commemorate the Christian victory of the Pollencans over the henchmen of the corsair Dragut. The dance of the Cossiers is a popular Mallorcan dance, widely documented since the 14th century, which has been kept alive in municipalities such as Algaida and Montuïri, and has been recovered in Manacor, Alaró, Palma and Pollença.

10th August - Escorca
Patron saint festivities with a wide range of activities, open-air dances and concerts.

14th August - Valldemossa
A peculiar night-time procession that dates back to the 16th century. The image of the Dead Virgin leaves the church of San Bartolomé carried by men wearing a kind of hat, popularly known as a cresta.

Mare de Déu d’Agost

15th August - Deià, Caimari and Puigpunyent
In the heart of summer, the Virgin of August is the date for the summer festivities in many villages, with activities, concerts and open-air dances.

Festivities of Sant Roc

16th August - Alaró
Patron saint festivities with Cossiers dance and all kinds of activities, concerts and open-air dances.

Pepper procession

24th August - Fornalutx
On the eve of Sant Bartomeu, children parade through the village with a candle inside a perforated red pepper.

Sant Mateu

21st September - Bunyola
Patron saint festivities with all kinds of activities, concerts and open-air dances.

Festivities of King James

De l'1 al 15 de setembre - CalviàFrom 1st to 15th September - Calvià
The main event of these festivities is the commemoration of the landing of the troops of King James I, in the 13th century, in the bay of Santa Ponça, the beginning of the Christian conquest of the island, with a simulation.
