The Serra de Tramuntana, before and after
In collaboration with the dissemination project «Die Balearen, the Balearic Islands before and after», the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium has promoted the production of re-photographs of several representative sites located within the World Heritage territory of the Serra de Tramuntana that are illustrated in the Die Balearen in Wort und Bild Geschildert (The Balearic Islands described by word and image), by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria (1847-1915), the most important 19th-century genre book on the Balearic Islands.
«Die Balearen, the Balearic Islands before and after» is a re-photography project, or comparative photography, carried out by the content designer Lluc Julià Fàbregues with the aim of providing the public with a tool to compare the state of conservation of the cultural heritage and the evolution of the landscape of the Balearic Islands between the late 19th and 20th centuries and to become aware, in an understandable and attractive way, of the imprint of human beings on their own environment.
