Sculpture with recycled wood

Pau, the large recycled wood sculpture to reflect on the vulnerability of the Serra de Tramuntana.

It is the work of sculptor Marcos Torandell, in collaboration with international artists Marta Fresneda and Gabriel Muñoz.

It can be visited in the parking lot of the so n'Amer refuge, in Escorca, until December 2024 and in different municipalities of the Serra de Tramuntana from 2025 onwards.

The sculpture is made from the wood of the trees that were destroyed by the storm Juliette in February 2023, which was still accumulated on the paths of the so n'Amer public estate.

It is an initiative of the Consorci Serra de Tramuntana Patrimoni Mundial to raise awareness of the adverse situations that the Serra de Tramuntana is suffering, and will suffer, as a result of climate change. Reflection should lead to a change of perspective based on environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Pau is also a tribute to the victims of traffic accidents, which is why it bears the name of a friend of the artist, Pau Vidal, who died on the road.

The sculpture is part of an artistic project, ‘Divergente’, promoted by Marcos Torandell, which aims to put humanity at the centre of the planet's challenges with the creation of large-format works made from recycled material that invite reflection.
